Cake Wrecks

Cake Wrecks is a humor blog I’ve been following for years. Since 2008, Jen Yates has been posting pictures of failed professional cakes with funny commentary. Along with three occasional guest contributors, she has found/received enough material to post six days a week! Well, to be fair, only weekdays feature wrecks. On Sundays, she posts “Sunday Sweets” featuring amazingly good cakes. Here’s an example from this week’s comic book themed post:
And here’s an impressive life-sized Barbie cake:

But enough with the pretty cakes. Let me share with you a few of the most iconic wrecks:
This is the very first post on the site: “The Cake That Started It All”.

This cake, found a month later, became the Cake Wrecks logo.

This is a surprisingly common theme, and a personal favorite.

They also have a published book you can purchase for your coffee table. (Or as a cautionary reference for the kitchen.) They’ve made a directory of all the bakeries featured in their Sunday Sweets section sorted by location. And Jen has a second blog, Epbot.com which explores general girly geekiness.

So go kill some time! If you don’t have a cynical sense of humor like I do, then you might want to check out the Sunday Sweets or Epbot. If you do, I’m sure you’ll get sucked right in.
